I recently had the pleasure of shooting Joni and George’s wedding, which was set in the high alpine of Utah’s beautiful mountains. As you can image it was the dream backdrop for a photographer. I met Joni through one of my previous brides and we instantly became friends. Joni is a genuine and beautiful women both inside and out and George is the perfect match for her because he is just as genuine!
The couple rented a huge lodge where all of their friends and family could stay for the entire weekend. The bride and groom along with their closest friends and family enjoyed a weekend of hiking, biking, and celebrating starting Friday evening with a rehearsal dinner and open house. The bride and groom each had their own suites to get ready in for their big day surrounded by their family and friends. One of the cutest things is when the groom writes a love note to his bride as good luck on the bottom of her shoe…
Here is what George wrote to Joni: “You make my dreams come true” on one shoe and “Everyday” on the other. Simple, Honest, Love.
Joni’s dress was perfect for her and folded into their entire wedding decor and location perfectly, with detailed lace design it was the perfect style to highlight her beauty.
Their cake was a beautiful aspen inspired cake designed and perfected by the Bride’s family friend and well known bakery in Bountiful, UT — Parson’s Bakery. Let me tell you it was not only beautiful it was absolutely delicious.
Something I encourage all of my brides to do is a “First Look” it is something that has evolved over my years of shooting weddings and I cannot explain how important it is. Once the ceremony is complete there are so many people you want to see and hug that the time for getting these shots becomes limited. This might be one of my favorite first looks as there was just pure joy and love in the air.
The ceremony was short, sweet, and full of cute things about the couple. A good friend of the couple, Lara Kendall married them with ease and perfection. This couple is extremely active and into dirt biking, mountain biking, and skiing/snowboarding. Most of their friends refer to them as the “power couple” and know that whatever they are out doing is to the max. The couple even met at a mountain bike race and are both always up for any adventure.
“You may now kiss the bride” and this amazing couple became Man and Wife. After the ceremony guests enjoyed a fun cocktail hour followed by a fabulous dinner provided by Culinary Crafts. I have to say the food was cooked and delivered to perfection and might have been the best Salmon I have ever had.
After dinner everyone headed upstairs in the lodge to a big room where a really great DJ was set up and ready to get the party started. There were some funny and heartfelt speeches given to the newly married couple, the cake was cut, the dancing began and continued into the night. Everyone in the room was having a blast!
As the evening came to a close the sun set on a beautiful couple that I want to wish many years of adventure, love, and happiness to. I know they are going to have a beautiful life together and I couldn’t have been more honored to be apart of their beautiful wedding~
A hidden gem that is set up a narrow road in Parley’s Canyon, there is an event center called Loudland Falls. There are beautiful water falls and red rocks it almost has the feel like you’re in Moab. When you arrive and look to the left there is a beautiful green field where most couple get married standing in front of a beautiful mountain view.
Kristi reached out to me as a referral from a previous wedding I had shot and we hit it off right away. I was honored to shoot this wedding in such a beautiful unique venue with a beautiful couple. I’ll start this blog with Kristi’s dress, it was so simple yet so beautiful.
Kristi and Scott were a very shy couple so my job was to create a natural look which was a fun challenge. I could not get over how awesome her dress was. Check out the back of it…
Kristi and Scott are both cyclists and went to college together at Lees-McCrae in North Carolina. Having shot another cyclist before their wedding I have noticed how shy they can be. This couple was absolutely adorable to shoot because of the cute little things they would do. It was fun to sneak in a couple cute images when they weren’t really looking.
The ceremony was short, yet very personal as you would imagine from a couple who bases their lives being active in the outdoors. Kristi and Scott spend their days mountain biking and road riding in the spring, summer, and fall. While enjoying both alpine and nordic skiing in the winter months.
The first meal as Mr. and Mrs. Jackson followed by the cake cutting. This cake was so beautiful it was hard to watch them cut it. Throughout the entire wedding it was all about the simple details that made the evening as beautiful as the couple.
After the couple celebrated their very special night with family and friends the bride graduated from residency and the couple set off on a month long trip to Europe. When they come back to the states they will move to their new home in Bend, OR and welcome in their new puppy as they begin their life as Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. I wish them the best of luck and many days of love and happiness.
