I recently had the pleasure of shooting Joni and George’s wedding, which was set in the high alpine of Utah’s beautiful mountains. As you can image it was the dream backdrop for a photographer. I met Joni through one of my previous brides and we instantly became friends. Joni is a genuine and beautiful women both inside and out and George is the perfect match for her because he is just as genuine!

The couple rented a huge lodge where all of their friends and family could stay for the entire weekend. The bride and groom along with their closest friends and family enjoyed a weekend of hiking, biking, and celebrating starting Friday evening with a rehearsal dinner and open house. The bride and groom each had their own suites to get ready in for their big day surrounded by their family and friends. One of the cutest things is when the groom writes a love note to his bride as good luck on the bottom of her shoe…

Here is what George wrote to Joni: “You make my dreams come true” on one shoe and “Everyday” on the other. Simple, Honest, Love.

Joni’s dress was perfect for her and folded into their entire wedding decor and location perfectly, with detailed lace design it was the perfect style to highlight her beauty.

Their cake was a beautiful aspen inspired cake designed and perfected by the Bride’s family friend and well known bakery in Bountiful, UT — Parson’s Bakery. Let me tell you it was not only beautiful it was absolutely delicious.

Something I encourage all of my brides to do is a “First Look” it is something that has evolved over my years of shooting weddings and I cannot explain how important it is. Once the ceremony is complete there are so many people you want to see and hug that the time for getting these shots becomes limited. This might be one of my favorite first looks as there was just pure joy and love in the air.

The ceremony was short, sweet, and full of cute things about the couple. A good friend of the couple, Lara Kendall married them with ease and perfection. This couple is extremely active and into dirt biking, mountain biking, and skiing/snowboarding. Most of their friends refer to them as the “power couple” and know that whatever they are out doing is to the max. The couple even met at a mountain bike race and are both always up for any adventure.

“You may now kiss the bride” and this amazing couple became Man and Wife. After the ceremony guests enjoyed a fun cocktail hour followed by a fabulous dinner provided by Culinary Crafts. I have to say the food was cooked and delivered to perfection and might have been the best Salmon I have ever had.

After dinner everyone headed upstairs in the lodge to a big room where a really great DJ was set up and ready to get the party started. There were some funny and heartfelt speeches given to the newly married couple, the cake was cut, the dancing began and continued into the night. Everyone in the room was having a blast!

As the evening came to a close the sun set on a beautiful couple that I want to wish many years of adventure, love, and happiness to. I know they are going to have a beautiful life together and I couldn’t have been more honored to be apart of their beautiful wedding~

Joni - These are beautiful Julie! Thank you so much for capturing the magic of our special day and making us look good!

A hidden gem that is set up a narrow road in Parley’s Canyon, there is an event center called Loudland Falls. There are beautiful water falls and red rocks it almost has the feel like you’re in Moab. When you arrive and look to the left there is a beautiful green field where most couple get married standing in front of a beautiful mountain view.

Kristi reached out to me as a referral from a previous wedding I had shot and we hit it off right away. I was honored to shoot this wedding in such a beautiful unique venue with a beautiful couple. I’ll start this blog with Kristi’s dress, it was so simple yet so beautiful.

Kristi and Scott were a very shy couple so my job was to create a natural look which was a fun challenge. I could not get over how awesome her dress was. Check out the back of it…

Kristi and Scott are both cyclists and went to college together at Lees-McCrae in North Carolina. Having shot another cyclist before their wedding I have noticed how shy they can be. This couple was absolutely adorable to shoot because of the cute little things they would do. It was fun to sneak in a couple cute images when they weren’t really looking.

The ceremony was short, yet very personal as you would imagine from a couple who bases their lives being active in the outdoors. Kristi and Scott spend their days mountain biking and road riding in the spring, summer, and fall. While enjoying both alpine and nordic skiing in the winter months.

The first meal as Mr. and Mrs. Jackson followed by the cake cutting. This cake was so beautiful it was hard to watch them cut it. Throughout the entire wedding it was all about the simple details that made the evening as beautiful as the couple.

After the couple celebrated their very special night with family and friends the bride graduated from residency and the couple set off on a month long trip to Europe. When they come back to the states they will move to their new home in Bend, OR and welcome in their new puppy as they begin their life as Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. I wish them the best of luck and many days of love and happiness.

It’s a unique experience as a photographer when you get to shoot a bride that you have been shooting since they were a little girl. I have absolutely loved watching Montana grow up from an adorable young lady to a stunning grown adult. To capture her on her wedding day was an honor. I’ll start the blog with a photo I took of her when she was young and then we’ll jump right into the beautiful bride she became.

The lighting was spectacular and the windows were stunning just like the couple for their bridal shoot.

This is something I like to do because it takes the pressure off the needed formal images on the day of their wedding. This give me time to focus on capturing candid moments among the couple, their families, and the friends who are their to celebrate this special time.

Montana’s Dress was absolutely stunning and really fun to shoot. It had so much fabric, layers, and details to work with.

The bridal party was really fun and I loved the women’s dresses.

This wedding was so special to me because I have been taking Montana’s photos since she was 10 years old. They were sealed in the Provo City Center Temple followed by a reception at The Bellington Manor.

I’m am excited to share Wade & Bailey’s wedding photos with a couple bridals incorporated too. Im honored to shoot yet another absolutely beautiful wedding day. Having been a wedding photographer for many years you’d think I would get numb to them but its the exact opposite, each wedding day brings new tears of joy to my eyes as I always kick off the day behind the scenes with the bride along with her family and friends. The great thing about weddings is that they are always unique in their own ways making them continuously fun to shoot. This day was no exception, tears of joy appeared even though I hid it and kept my composure.

If you notice in the dress photo two buttons are not like the others. Bailey surprised her mom by adding two of her buttons to her dress. Its the special touches of the day that add so much meaning.

I have incorporated some of their formals into their wedding post and these images were taken at the Capital Building.

I’ll close this blog with this beautiful rainbow, I always find it special when couples are lucky enough to have a rainbow appear on their wedding day. However, this rainbow had extra special meaning for the bride, her uncle who has passed away tends to send rainbows when her family is all gathered together.

Brandy & Josh tied the knot on May 6th and I had a blast shooting them outside of the temple. They’re nuptials took place at the Draper LDS Temple with their reception following at The Links at Sleepy Ridge in Provo, UT.

As we all know the Tulips are absolutely stunning in the Spring here in Utah so of course I had to include these pops of color.

I love it when brides choose to wear a veil because it gives me something extra to work with while I shoot. I enjoy capturing the light that radiates through them which really brings added beauty to a wedding day.

This spring we have had our share of rain and boy do we need it. One of the best parts about the rain is how much richness it brings to nature, I couldn’t help but highlight Brandy’s beautiful eyes in this lush green bed of grass.

Josh’s family is one that I know very well having shot his sisters wedding back in 2009, pictured below:

And I also shot Josh’s brothers wedding last year, each time it has been a pleasure to work with this beautiful family.

A little fun fact about Brandy & Josh … Brandy loves sharks and Josh made sure to fully embrace that in his proposal. Check out how he popped the question to Brandy.

I just love a true romantic like Josh and found this proposal so fun. How cool would it be if you were Brandy?!

At the end of a fun reception filled with love, laughter, family and dancing the bride and groom were sent off by their friends and family by a water balloon send off, which was also a fun and unique way to end a very special celebration.
